Two-Ingredient Chocolate & Pear Mousse

Two-Ingredient Chocolate & Pear Mousse

Dessert in a snap? Yes, please!

This little beauty is proof that you don’t need a long ingredient list or fancy equipment to whip up something that looks (and tastes) like it belongs in a restaurant. With just two ingredients - ripe pears and dark chocolate - you can make a silky-smooth mousse that’s perfect for your next dinner party, or even as a cheeky mid week treat when you want something a bit indulgent without spending hours in the kitchen.

* no pears on hand? This can be made with apples too!

Ingredients

  • 500g pears (about 3–4 medium, nice and ripe)
  • 220g dark chocolate (70% cocoa works best, but go with what you love)

Method

  1. Prep the pears
Peel and core your pears, then cut them into chunks. Pop them into a pot with a splash of water and simmer gently until they’re tender (about 10 minutes). Drain well - you don’t want too much water hanging around or the mousse will go runny.
  2. Melt the chocolate
Break up the chocolate into pieces and melt it gently, either over a pot of simmering water (bain-marie style) or in short bursts in the microwave. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  3. Blend it all together
Grab your blender or food processor, and whizz the pears until smooth. Pour in the melted chocolate and blend again until the mixture is silky and fully combined.
  4. Chill out
Spoon the mousse into little bowls, ramekins, or glasses. Pop them in the fridge for at least an hour to set (longer if you can resist sneaking a spoonful).
  5. Serve and impress
That’s it! You’ve just made a decadent dessert with minimal effort. Top with a dollop of cream, or even a few toasted nuts if you’re feeling fancy. Or just grab a spoon and dig in.
